Let's draft together the pattern of this vintage dress.

Grab a medium weight, solid color fabric (or a print with no direction) and start sewing!

Step 1

Start from a basic block with darts. shape center back and reduce the back dart accordingly.

Draw the slash line for a french dart on full front.

Get a basic sleeve and cut it halfway.

Step 2

Get the back and the back part of the sleeve.

Join them at the notches.

Step 3

Do the dart manipulation on the front and align its sleeve as you did for the back.

Step 4

Trace a copy and you should have this.

Step 5

Join the two part of the sleeves to have a big block (back + sleeve + front) and draw neckline and collar.

Step 6

Trace a copy of the collar, draw the slash lines for the volume of front pleats and cut it.

Step 7

Redraw the collar with added volume and your bodice pattern is ready!

Step 8

Draw a 1/4 of a circle skirt, add a couple of slash lines for the volume, cut and add the gathering amount you prefer.

Redraw the piece and you’re done!
