Let's see how to draft the pattern of this 50s halter dress.

Start from the pattern of a basic dress.

Step 1

On both bodices draw the necklines and prepare it for the dart manipulation as you see in the photo.

On the skirt erase the darts.

Step 2

Cut the pieces separate and close the existing darts on the bodices – open the volume at the front shoulder dart and extend the skirt pieces towards the side for the gathering.

Step 3

Attach the back neckline to the front one and mark it as a whole bigger piece with pleats at the back.

Step 4

Add a rectangular piece for the pocket and you get the finished pattern.
