Asymmetric dress with cutout

4.5/5

Let's draft the pattern for this sexy dress. It has a lot of interesting details: a side slit, asymmetric cutout and interesting manipulations.

It even combines 2 different fabrics, but you can use one or even more. We suggest light to medium weight fabrics as crepe or satin.

Step 1

To draft the pattern, start from a fitted dress block with darts.

Draw the full front, then identify underbust line and draw the front cutout ending at underbust. Widen right waist dart so that it is 3cm at underbust.

Step 2

Draw the slash line from left side seam high close to armpit to right side seam below waistline.

Widen also left waist dart so that it is 3cm wide at this new slash line.

Step 3

Draw one more slash line from left side seam kind of parallel to previous line but ending at bottom apex of right waist dart.

Square down from that point to hemline.
