Asymmetric midi dress

4.5/5

Let's draft the pattern for this interesting midi dress. It has a classic silhouette with cool slash lines creating an asymmetric skirt.

You can sew it in any medium weight fabric as crepe.

To draft the pattern, start from a copy of your basic block with darts and wearing ease (minimum 6 to 8cm at bust circumference).

Step 1

Trace a full copy of front.

Draw the slash lines for manipulating shoulder dart into french dart at side seam.

Draw the slanted slash line at waist.

Step 2

Cut through the line to separate bodice and skirt.

On bodice, close manipulate shoulder darts opening their volume into the new slash lines, then close also waist dart and open their volume in french darts.

Step 3

See that all darts on bodice are manipulated into the ones at side seam?

Get the skirt and draw two parallel slash lines 25 to 35cm apart.
