Step 1
Start creating a full copy of back and front.
On both pieces
- flare the hem at sides by 3-4cm
- shorten the skirt 15 to 20cm above the knee
- draw a slash line at waist
- draw the asymmetric neckline as you see in the image.
Let's draft together the pattern for this slip dress, that features an interesting asymmetric cowl neckline.
You can sew it in any lightweight fabric an you can cut either on grain or on bias. To get the effect you see in the photo, we suggest to choose silk satin.
To draft the pattern, start from a basic block with darts and minimum wearing ease (like 2cm on bust, waist, hip circumferences).
Start creating a full copy of back and front.
On both pieces
Cut through the new hemline and through the waistline.
On front, square down from dart apex, then cut through the lines and close darts on front skirt.
The darts on front skirt are manipulated into a volume at hem.
On front bodice, cut through the center and through bust line.
Then close waist and shoulder darts and open their volume in center.
