Asymmetric top with open back

4.5/5

Let's draft the pattern for this super trendy top.

You can sew it in any lightweight fabric as cotton or viscose with bust dart - as per our instruction - or on a dartless bodice if you use jersey or knits (as the photo).

Start from a basic block and matching sleeve.

Step 1

Trace a copy of full front.

Draw the slash lines for french darts (6 to 7cm below armpit, up to bust point), then cut through the lines and close shoulder and waist darts.

Step 2

Draw the new neckline and armholes: lower 3cm from armpit, then draw a smooth line in direction to high shoulder point.

Draw a shoulder strap 1,5cm wide, then draw the other side of neckline and a line for armhole.

Step 3

Trace a copy of full back, match side seam and continue the neckline on back.

Both back waist darts will be closed in paper.
