Bardot bodysuit with drape

4.5/5

Let's draft the pattern for this nice bodysuit - a perfect quick project for jersey scraps.

It's a nice summer project that can be easily dresses down with jeans or up with maxi skirt and heels.

To start with the pattern, trace a copy of your basic block with darts and negative ease and matching sleeve.

Step 1

Trace a mirrored copy of front for the wrap neckline, then on both front and back erase waist dart and discard a matching amount from side seam.

Notice that front is shorter and back is longer at crotch to bring the closure (hook and eye or snap buttons) slightly on front and making it easier to reach and more comfortable.

Step 2

Trace a copy of the sleeve, make sure it has no ease at cap, then align notches to merge sleeve and bodices at armholes.

Start at right angle in center back (10 to 12cm below original neckline) and draw the new neckline passing through sleeve cap notches and all the way to side front 2cm below armpit.

Step 3

Separate back, sleeve and front, then cut through the neckline.

On front, draw a line parallel to neckline approx 15cm below it. Trace this section separate.
