Blouse with front knot and bell sleeve

Style analysis: short blouse with dart manipulation into a front knot. Round neckline, center back zipper. Flared sleeves with lot of volume and elbow length.

Fabric: satin, repe, viscose, voile, polyester or polyester blends - lightweight, drapey fabric.

Draft the pattern starting from a made to measure basic bodice with darts and 8 to 10cm wearing ease on bust circumference - our method for drafting perfectly made to measure patterns is included in our basic blocks course/module 1.

Step 1

Trace back, front and sleeve.

Shorten sleeve to elbow and square down from armpit points.

Redraw back and front armhole shortening shoulder line by 2 to 3cm and blending to zero at armpit. Cut through the lines and do not throw the small pieces.

Step 2

Merge back and front small pieces to sleeve cap by matching notches.

Cut through sleeve center.

Step 3

Pivoting at top, close previous shoulder lines together and open (lots of) volume at sleeve hemline.

Trace a copy of the new sleeve. Grainline is in the middle of the added volume.
