Corset bomber jacket

4.5/5

Let's draft the pattern for this bomber jacket. It's an interesting project that combines the slash lines of a corset and the structure of a bomber jacket.

You could sew it in any medium to heavy woven fabric, depending on the effect you want to get: from denim to brocade, so many possibilities!

To create the pattern, start from a basic block with darts and matching sleeve.

Step 1

Start by tracing a copy of front and back.

Draw the yoke line as a wide round neckline measuring 4 to 5cm inwards from shoulder point along shoulder line.

Then draw the hemline at waist on back and pointed downwards on front up to 15 to 18cm below the waist in center front.

Step 2

Cut through the slash line separating yoke and bodice pieces, then close shoulder dart on front yoke.

Widen neckline by 1,5cm on shoulders and center front and 1cm on center back.

On bodice pieces, draw the slash lines that end at side seams and substitute previous waist darts.
