Corset with off shoulders sleeves

4.5/5

Let's draft together the pattern of this amazing corset.

It features topstitched panels with bones and statement sleeves.

You can realize it in any non stretch fabric, adding some support with an interlining (fusible or non fusible as drill).

The best bones are spiral metal ones, that provide both support and flexibility.

Start from a basic block with zero wearing ease or negative ease at the waist if you want the corset to be really tight.

Step 1

Draw the neckline including the last section of armholes.

At the front neckline (minimum 7cm above bust point, but depends on the coverage you want and on your measurements), widen the shoulder dart by 1cm for the corset to be tighter to the chest.

Draw the hem straight on back and pointed downward in center front.

Step 2

Get a matching sleeve, cut its cap and match the notches 5cm above the armpit between back, sleeve and front.

Step 3

Draw this triangle: one side is this imaginary line 5cm above the armpit, ending approximately at shoulder dart and back dart, and the apex is in the sleeve center.

Step 4

Trace the sleeve with this triangular shape on a separate sheet, then separate front and back and cut them at the neckline and hem line.
