Corset with plunging neckline

4.5/5

A cool design for this corset with deep neckline and high-low hemline.

You can sew it in any non stretch, medium weight fabric, eventually backing it with interlining.

We suggest adding bones and full lining.

To draft the pattern, start from a contoured bodice (bodice with darts and zero wearing ease) - you can check our course here.

Step 1

Trace a copy of your contoured bodice until 13 to 16cm below waistline.

Draw underbust line on front bodice, then make dart 3cm wide from waist to underbust, shaping it as a rocket.

Step 2

Redraw armhole moving shoulder point inward by 2 to 4cm and dropping armpit point by 1 to 2,5cm.

On front, draw the bottom part of a circle whose center is on bust point and radius is (half of bust distance) minus 1cm.

Step 3

Draw shoulder straps 3 to 5cm wide on both front and back, then draw back neckline slighly squared or U-shaped.

Continue drawing the circle for cup construction until it meets front shoulder strap line. This is the bodice line (where cup will be stitched to).
