Corset with sweetheart neckline

4.5/5

Let's see the steps to draft the pattern for this amazing corset with sweetheart neckline.

It is perfect by itself or as a bodice for a bridal/evening dress.

We suggest to use a non stretch, medium weight firm fabric paired with non stretch woven interlining, inner part finished with lining or - for the best sensation - silk satin.

You need bones, and you can insert them in bonecases attached to the seam allowances or you can create your own bonecases by topstitching the seam allowances and creating a channel.

To draft the pattern start from a basic block with darts and zero wearing ease.

Step 1

Trace a copy of back and front separate, move up from bust point as the half bust distance -1cm and widen shoulder dart by 1cm at that point.

Step 2

On back and front draw the underbust line: measure down from bust point as the half bust distance -1cm and square to center front and center back at that height.

Widen waist dart to be 3cm from underbust to hem.

Step 3

Draw the sweetheart neckline on front ending at armpit point.

Start from the matching point to draw the back neckline – end in center back a bit lower.
