Cowl neck blouse with statement sleeves

4.5/5

Let's see how to draft the pattern of this interesting blouse.

It features a cowl neckline with pleats that creates a front drape and long sleeves with gathers and a wide, tight cuff.

The perfect fabric is something lightweight and drapey as silk satin or crepe, viscose, lightweight cotton...

Start from a basic block with shoulder dart and wearing ease appropriate to the fit you like and the fabric you are using. For example, you can add 12cm to bust circumference if you are using a lightweight, non stretch silk. Keep waist circumference 1 to 2cm smaller then bust one.

Step 1

Start from a copy of your basic block.

Draw the slash line for manipulating shoulder dart into the french one ending in side seam 7-8cm below armpit.

Cut through the slash line.

Step 2

Close shoulder dart and open its volume into french dart ending at side seam.

Redraw the dart moving the apex 3cm away from bust point.

Step 3

Get back and rotate it by 180° so that center back line is parallel to center front one.

Match shoulder points.
