Double breasted blazer with front slits

4.5/5

Let's draft the pattern for this unusual blazer.

The classic notched or peak collar is changed into a new and eye-catching shape, and the front closure is very wide and hidden is side slits.

It's a challenging project that requires a good sewing experience, but the output would be so satisfying!

You could sew it in any light to medium weight wool or wool blend, adding interlining and full lining to it.

Step 1

Start from a basic block without darts.

Shape center back by 0,5cm at neckline and 1,5cm at waist and hip lines.

Step 2

Draw the princess cut (where the slit is) and the side panel line 1cm past midpoint on chest line and 5cm past it on waistline.

Step 3

Draw the back line for side panel starting at armhole 5cm above deepest part of it, discarding 3cm at waist and overlapping 2cm at hipline.

the discard/overlap amount can vary according to your body measurement and on the fit you want (loose/tight)
