Draped skirt with sleeves

4.5/5

A fun project for a trendy skirt: it mimics a jacket knotted at waist :)

There's a back vent as in a classic blazer, a side welted pocket (fake or real, you choose) and draped front obtained by manipulating darts. The closure is a back invisible zipper.

Pick a men suiting fabric (wool, pinstripe, herringbone...) to highlight the blazer effect and add full lining for comfort!

To draft the pattern, start by drawing your basic skirt with 2cm ease at waist and hips.

Step 1

Trace a full copy of front and draw the asymmetric hemline with fake overlap.

Cut through the lines to separate the two pieces.

Step 2

Trace 2 separate back copies (there’s a seam in center back), add 4cm for vent to left side and adjust the length to match front.

Cut through the new hemline.

Step 3

Merge left front and left back joining the hip to hem section of side seam.

Draw 3 slash lines starting from front 2cm apart and ending in center back 4 to 5cm apart. Cut through the lines.
