Trace your basic dress with darts and mirror both front and back.
Drop armhole by 2 to 3cm, then draw the one shoulder neckline: on right shoulder line, measure 1 to 3cm from high shoulder point and connect it to new armpit point on left side seam. Widen shoulder dart by 1cm at new neckline on front. Make right shoulder 5 to 7cm wide and draw the new right armhole.
Cut through the new neckline.
Draw the waist cut as shown (choose how low you want the cutout to be – in the image it is approx 15cm below waistline on right side seam). Make sure levels match on front and back side seams.
Draw the cutout upper line: it starts in center front, raises on left side seam approx 10cm below armpit, ends approx 5cm past center back. Merge in a temporary way back and front at left side seam to make sure you have a nice shape.
Shorten skirt by drawing a straight line where longer points are, then we’ll draw the curve for the actual hemline.
