Flared short pants

4.5/5

Let's have a look at the pattern of these 2-layers short pants.

We suggest to use a lightweight, drapey fabric as cotton or viscose.

Start from a basic block with appropriate ease allowance.

Step 1

Start from a basic pant, choose the length measuring from the crotch line. We suggest 10-12cm.

Lower the crotch curve by 1-1,5cm.

Square down from the apex of the darts, as their volume will be changed into the flare.

Step 2

Cut through the slash lines and close the waist darts. Open their volume at the hem – you should be flaring 2-4cm.

Step 3

Flare the same amount also from side seam and inseam, redrawing the whole shape.

This is the pattern for the inner layer of your short pants.

Step 4

Now let’s work on the outer one.

Get the basic block that you were cutting earlier and replace the front and back pieces by closing the dart but opening a bit more (4-6cm) at the hem.
