High waisted pleated pants

4.5/5

A classy and trendy pair of pants perfect for spring.

To draft the pattern, trace a copy of your best fitting trouser block including 2 to 4cm ease at waist circ and 4 to 6cm ease at hip circ. Pick a light to medium weight fabric and enjoy your new pants!

Step 1

Trace a copy of your basic trouser with ease at waist and hip, then shorten them above the ankle and highlight the fold line on front. Cut through the line.

Step 2

On back, draw the yoke starting 4 to6cm below waistline on side seam and ending 10 to 12cm below waistline in center back.

On front, pivot at hemline to open 8 to 12cm at top for the pleat.
Then still on front measure 3cm along waistline from side seam and square down to knee line – cut through this slash line for the second pleat.

Step 3

Cut through back slash line, then close dart on yoke and discard from center back pants the remaining part of dart. Blend to zero before the curve.
