Jacket with pleated collar

4.5/5

Let's draft together the pattern of this blazer.

The timeless style has an accent on the collar detail, that features two pleats.

Almost any medium weight fabric can be used to sew it, as it can work in wool/wool blends for winter or in cotton/linen/silk and their blends for summer. Just avoid drapey fabrics, as silk satin, as they wouldn't hold the pleat construction.

Facing and lining patterns are drafted the basic way, no alteration is needed as the collar construction relates only to center front.

Step 1

Start from a basic block, in this case we used the one with a side panel.

Get also a matching two pieces sleeve.

Step 2

On front, draw the neckline first (the slanted line on the right side).

Then, draw two parallel lines from the hem to the shoulder. Keep them straight first, then slightly curved, and approx. 4cm apart.

Step 3

Cut through the lines and spread the pieces.
