Jumpsuit with wide sleeves

4.5/5

Let's draft together the pattern for this jumpsiut.

With the statement sleeve is a perfect piece for a wedding or a ceremony.

This is realized in silk crepe, but you can play with different fabrics as satin, viscose, or a combination with georgette or chiffon for sleeves.

Start from a basic bodice with darts and sleeve plus a basic pant. Choose wearing ease according to the fabric you are using (if it stretches or not) and to the fit you like most.

Step 1

Trace a copy of basic bodice. Manipulate darts to add volume to the waist – there will be gathers afterward.

Draw the slash line from back shoulder (2-3cm past high point shoulder) to apex of back dart. Cut through the dart and slash line.

On front, cut through the waist dart lines and close shoulder dart.

Step 2

Manipulate front dart opening its volume at the waist. Then open a matching volume on back.

Step 3

Trace copies of both bodices with the added volume, then mark gathers at waistline.

Center front is cut on fold, center back has seam allowance to insert a zipper and creating a keyhole in back upper part.
