Long wrap dress

4.5/5

In case you wander how our premium membership tutorials work, here is an example! Each month we share at least 2 free tutorials (as this one) and 6 premium ones (done the same way, on different topics of course).

Now let's draft together the pattern for this long wrap dress. It features a dart manipulation at bodice and full skirt with side slit.

You can sew it in any light to medium weight fabric. We suggest to line the bodice with the same fabric for a bit of structure.

To draft the pattern start from a basic block with zero to little (max 4cm on bust circumference) wearing ease, depending on the fit you like and the fabric you use.

Step 1

Start from a copy of basic bodice with full front.

First, draw the underbust line (lower from bust point half of your bust distance -1cm). Redraw waist dart so it is 3cm wide from waist to underbust.

Step 2

Draw the neckline from the point halfway in right shoulder line to the dart point of the left side.

Step 3

Raise armhole point on shoulder line by 2-3cm and redraw armhole on front and back.

Draw also back neckline.
