Matching set with short top

This matching set consists of a white crop top and a long skirt, both made from a shiny, satin-like fabric.

The crop top features wide shoulder straps, it has a square neckline and is fitted on bust, while the back and sides are open, creating a stylish, revealing look.

The skirt is flared and high-waisted, fitting snugly around the waist and hips. It has a paneled construction with high slit on one side. The skirt is long and flows down to the floor, creating a graceful, elegant appearance.

Fabric: light to medium weight woven fabric, with zero to small stretch (2 to 4%). The overall look is chic and glamorous, perfect for an evening event or a special occasion. The satin fabric adds a touch of luxury and sophistication to the outfit.

Step 1

Trace a copy of your contoured block (basic dress with darts and zero wearing ease).
You can learn our method for drafting perfectly made to measure basic blocks (contoured ones, and the ones with wearing ease) and for fitting them in our basic blocks course/module 1.

Lengthen skirt to ground or desired measurement, then flare at least 15 to 20cm from sides, blending to zero at waist to hip section.

Cut thtough waistline to separate bodice and skirt.

Step 2

On both skirt pieces, draw a horizontal line 10 to 14cm below waistline. Cut through the line to separate yoke from skirt.

On skirts, square down from dart apexes to hemline, cut through the lines and close the small remaining part of waist darts opening a matching volume at hemline.

Step 3

Focus on skirt.

Tape dart closed on both yokes.

On skirt bottom pieces, pivot at top to open 30 to 40cm at hemline. Draw a line from middle point of the new volume to pivoting point at top – this is the line to split skirt pieces into panels. Trace a copy of the new skirt, then cut through the slash line.

Step 7

Now focus on bodice. Take front and highlight underbust line, then make sure waist dart is 3cm wide at it.

Draw the new neckline starting perpendicular to center front 7 to 9cm above bust level, then continue all the way to armhole.

Widen shoulder dart by 1cm at new neckline.
