Midi dress with pussybow collar

4.5/5

Let's draft the pattern for this midi dress. Its length, the pussybow collar and statement sleeve give a rétro allure that we love.

Sew it in any light to medium weight fabric as silk crepe or satin, or cotton/viscose blends for something easier to care about.

Here you can find some techniques that can be used for sewing it in the best way ;)

Step 1

Start from a basic block with darts and 8 to 10cm wearing ease at bust.

Draw the waistband lines: one is approx 2cm below the waist, one is 4 to 6cm above it. They are straight on back, and slightly curved on front. The upper line is more curved and ends at underbust in center front.

Change front waist dart so that it is 3cm wide from waist to underbust, then shaped as a rocket to bust point.

Step 2

Cut through the lines and separate the pieces (bodice, waistband, skirt).

On front, cut through underbust dart up to bust point, then close shoulder dart and open its volume at underbust.

Step 3

See the front bodice with dart manipulated.

Disregard dart on back bodice (you’ll have gathers there).

Draw evenly spaced slash lines on back and front skirts and waistbands. Cut through the lines.
