Trace your contoured dress (zero wearing ease, with darts). Our method for drafting it made to measure and a full explanation on corset construction is covered in our basic blocks course/module 2.

Highlight waistline and cut through it to separate skirt and bodice.

Shorten skirt to desired measurement, then flare by 1 to 2cm on sides blending to zero to hipline.

On bodice:

• draw the new neckline dropping 1 to 2cm at side seam
• make sure you have at least 7cm above but point to draw neckline
• widen back by 0,5cm at back neckline
• widen front shoulder dart by 1cm at neckline.

Trace all bodice pieces separate, marking grainline perpendicular to waistline.

Mark bust point with a notch.

Work on skirt:

• make sure darts are even in length and width, or adjust them if they are not
• square down from dart apex to hemline
• draw a horizontal line 8 to 12cm below waistline for the sheer yoke
• cut through the line coming from dart and tape them closed.
