Mini skirt with side gathers + blouse

4.5/5

Let's draft the pattern for this festive combination. It's a quick sew perfect for these holidays!

It combines 3 different fabrics: we suggest stretch velvet for the skirt, stretch lace and mesh or tulle for the blouse, but you can use different ones and since small quantities are required you could even make good use of some scraps!

To draft the pattern, start from a basic dress with darts and appropriate ease to the fabric you chose.

Step 1

First, trace a copy of front and back and draw the t-shirt hemline 10 to 15cm below waistline and highlight the waistline that is where skirt starts.

Step 2

Trace t-shirt and skirt separately, then mirror front skirt to have the full pattern.

Square down from left dart apex and draw the asymmetric hemline.

Step 3

Now get front and back bodice and draw the slash line for french dart on front.

Close shoulder dart and open a matching volume into side seam.
