One shoulder corset dress with draped skirt

4.5/5

Let's draft the pattern for this amazing corset dress.

You can sew it in velvet or velveteen, but also in any light to medium weight soft fabric.

To draft the pattern, start from a copy of your contoured bodice (block with darts and zero wearing ease).

Step 1

Trace a copy of full back and front for the asymmetric style, then taper the skirt at hem by 3 to 7cm on each side.

Draw the slash line at waist and separate bodice and skirt.

Step 2

Prepare the skirt pieces for the asymmetric style.

On back skirt, draw the slash line in center back and cut through it.

On front skirt, draw the side slit starting from left dart apex to the hemline.

Step 3

Separate the skirt pieces and merge back and front at side.

You get left and right skirt and both have the original darts and one additional one where side seam was.
