One shoulder jersey top

4.5/5

Let's draft together the pattern for this top. It's a very trendy one and a quick make to use some jersey scraps ;)

To draft the pattern, start from a basic block with darts and negative wearing ease. If you want to know how to calculate negative wearing ease, there's a short video here. If you're curious, the last lesson of our basic block course - module 1 - is about drafting blocks for knits! All details are here.

Step 1

Start from a full front for the asymmetric style.

First, draw a line parallel to the waist and 3cm above it for the waistband.

Change darts so they are 3cm wide all the way in the waistband section. Cut through the line.

Step 2

Separate waistband and front bodice and close darts on waistband.

Draw the asymmetric neckline from left shoulder to right side seam. Lower 1cm from armpits and make shoulder strap 3 to 5cm wide.

Step 3

Cut through the new armhole and neckline.

Discard waist darts from side seams.
