Step 1
Start from a full dress block with ground length and zero or negative wearing ease depending on the fabric you chose.
Draw neckline and armholes.

One shoulder maternity dress
Style analysis: asymmetric maxi dress with one shoulder with gathers. Fitted back with classic darts and center back seam.
Pattern characteristics: manipulation for maternity dresses with gathers at side seams to increase volume on front dress. Bust darts are manipulated into gathers at shoulder.
Fabric: could be a knit if you want to use negative ease (viscose or cotton jersey are perfect, silk jersey is a bit harder to work with but it feels amazing), or could be a woven fabric as cotton/silk or cotton/viscose blend, crepe, satin...in this case, use zero or positive wearing ease.

Step 2
Work on waist shaping on back and skirt flare (+ train if you want to add it).
Create slash lines for adding volume to front mid section for the growing belly, then manipulate underbust dart to make underbust section fitted and flattering.
