Open back cowl neck top

4.5/5

Let's draft the pattern for this short top with open back and cowl neckline.

It's an easy make and a great way of using a fabric scrap, as you need a really small piece! It can be anything lightweight, as silk, viscose, cotton or a blend.

Start from a contoured block (= a basic with darts and zero wearing ease) - you just need the front.

Step 1

Trace a copy of front and draw both shoulder and waist dart with apex at bust point.

Then draw a slash line from bust point perpendicular to center front and cut through it.

Step 2

Close shoulder and waist darts and open their volume into the new slash line.
