Oversized shirt with dolman sleeve

4.5/5

Let's draft the pattern for this trendy shirt. It has an interesting dolman sleeve manipulated to skip shoulder seam.

Front has a curved princess line, separate button stand and pocket with pleat and flap.

Another interesting aspect is the high-low hemline.

You could sew it in any fabric but we recommend plain cotton as popeline or linen and linen blends for the nicest effect.

Step 1

First trace a copy of front and back with darts up to hipline. Ease allowance at this stage is not very important, so just make sure it is more than 10cm at bust circumference.

Flare 5 to 8cm from side seam.

Draw two parallel lines to center front, one 1,5cm inwards and one 1,5cm outwards. The 3cm band that you just created is the button stand.

Step 2

Cut the button stand separate, then draw the princess line on front passing through bust point.

Cut through the slash line, then close shoulder dart on the bigger piece.

Step 3

Extend center back downwards by 30 to 50cm, draw the new back hemline, then extend front side seam to match back one and draw front hemline.
