Paneled asymmetric skirt with pockets

4.5/5

Let's draft together the pattern for this amazing McQueen denim skirt.

It features many interesting details: a high-low hemline, panels giving a flared hem, pockets. As for sewing, it has front fly and all topstitchings as jeans.

Start by a copy of your basic skirt with front and back separate. Did you already draw it according to our method? It's the first leeson in our FREE pre-course. If you missed it, enroll here !

This skirt is realized in denim, but you can sew it in any medium weight woven!

Step 1

First, draw pockets on front.

Measure 10 to 12cm at waistline from side waist and 8 to 10cm downward along side seam. Connect the two points with a curved line that is pocket opening line.

Add 4 to 5cm minimum on each side and draw the pocket bag to be done in lining (or lightweight cotton if you want to be more true to jeans style).

Step 2

Draw the pocket facing with a line parallel to pocket opening, 2-3cm more in depth of pocket.

Trace facing and pocket bag separately

Step 3

On front, draw a curved line higher in center where from flaring starts.

Step 4

Draw a matching curve at front hemline for the asymmetric front/back length.
