Princess cut top

Let's draft together the pattern of this top.

It's a great and quick project, perfect for practicing dart manipulation and sewing curves.

To make sewing easier, we suggest to pick a non stretch fabric, quite densely woven - or eventually to add a very lightweight fusible interlining to help stabilizing the curves.

Step 1

Start from a basic block with darts. redraw armhole and neckline wider, then draw the curved princess cut on both back and front.

Redraw the waist darts slanted.

Step 2

Trace the two back pieces separately discarding the new dart.

Remember to add notches on the curved line to make sewing easier.

Step 3

Do the same for front, remember to close the shoulder dart.

Trace the waist insert separately.

Step 4

Your new pattern is ready!!
