Puffed sleeve blouse

4.5/5

Let's draft the pattern for this dressy blouse. You can sew it in a precious silk satin for the style in the photo or in any other lightweight fabric if you prefer to have something for everyday use.

Start from a basic block with darts and shirt appropriate wearing ease (8cm to bust circumference and 6cm to waist one, for example).

Step 1

First, draw the new hemline parallel to waistline (2-3cm beklow it) on back, and slanted downward on center front. Keep the line slightly curved.

Then draw the new neckline, the underbust line and the new armhole and princess lines to it for dart manipulation.

Step 2

Get the back and cut through all lines. You get:

  • upper bodice
  • lower bodice
  • upper side panel
  • lower side panel
  • armhole section.
Step 3

Then get the front and cut through all lines. You get:

  • upper bodice with shoulder and underbust darts – draw a new slash line from bust point outward and close the existing darts
  • lower bodice
  • upper side panel
  • lower side panel
  • armhole section.
