Start from a basic dress with darts and no wearing ease on bust and waist, 2cm at hips*

*Our method for drafting perfectly made to measure basic blocks, choosing wearing ease and for fitting them is included in our basic blocks course/module 1.

Then:

• adjust length to ground, mark a slit in center back
• draw back neckline starting in center back 3cm below armpit level and ending at side seam at armpit
• draw front nekline starting at armpit on side seam, raising to 7 to 10cm above bust point at shoulder dart and squaring to center front – this will be the inner bodice neckline
• widen shoulder dart by 1cm at new neckline.

Draw the outer bodice neckline starting on front from armpit on side seam, passing roughly from bust point and squaring all the way to center front.

Trace back and front skirt – they will be the inner ones.

Back has grainline parallel to center, front is cut on fabric fold.
