Strapless dress with flounce

Let's draft the pattern for this classic strapless dress.

The accent is on a contrasting flounce. Sew it in any medium weight fabric adding interlining to bodice and flounce for a more structured shape.

Step 1

Start from a countoured block, mirror front and cut through waistline to separate bodice and skirt.

Step 2

Taper the skirt slightly (2 to 3cm on each side) above the knee, and flare it at bottom.

Draw the ruffle 15 to 20cm wide.

Step 3

On front, draw the asymmetric cut on skirt and ruffle from center towards right side.

Ruffle is a bit smaller at waist (12 to 15cm wide) and wider at bottom.
