T-shirt with cross front

4.5/5

Let's draft together the pattern for this trendy t-shirt.

It's super short but you can use the same technique also to sew a cross detail on a longer one, a dress or a sleeve.

Start from a basic block with darts for knits (zero to negative wearing ease) and matching sleeve.

We suggest to sew it in jersey, but you can try different weights to achieve different effects ;)

Step 1

Trace a copy of full front and half back.

On both of them raise the armhole by 3cm shortening the shoulder line.

Step 2

Cut away the armhole section, then on back discard the waist dart half from center back and half from side seam.

Step 3

On front, first cut through the new armhole line.

Draw the slanted line that crosses the front: start from right armhole approx halfway in it going to left side seam.

Widen shoulder dart by 1cm at the slanted line on right side, and make the waist dart at underbust on left side 3cm wide.

Draw the new slanted hemline raising 2cm on right side.
