Tiared dress with bishop sleeve

4.5/5

Let's draft together the pattern of this summer dress.

The ideal fabric is a lightweight one, could be cotton or viscose.

Prepare a basic block with darts and regular ease allowance with matching sleeve.

Step 1

On both front and back widen the neckline by 1,5-2cm at the shoulder, redraw the back one and draw a front one with a deep V in the center.

Draw the lower yoke line 2-3cm above the waist and the upper yoke line 5-6cm above on the back and side, going to the deepest point of the neckline in center front.

Flare both skirts by 2-3cm.

Step 2

Trace the front bodice from the new neckline to the upper yoke line.

Draw the slash line for the dart manipulation slanted towards center front.

Step 3

Cut through the lines, close the shoulder and underbust darts and open their volume in the new cut.

Mark it with notches, on fabric this amount will be absorbed in a gathering.

Step 4

Get the back bodice from the new neckline to the upper yoke line.

Discard the dart from center back.

Step 5

Get the two yokes and cut the darts away.

Step 6

Close the darts and get the new yokes. They will look slightly curved downwards.
