Trench coat with raglan sleeves

Style analysis: trench coat designed with a contemporary, casual flair with a minimalist and neutral aesthetic. It features a front zipper closure, in black, which contrasts against the beige fabric, short sleeves, a cinched waist with black drawstrings and large side pockets for functionality and a laid-back look.
The overall silhouette is long and straight, falling to the ankles, creating a modern and comfortable fit.

Fabric: cotton twill, technical fabrics, waterproof or nylon, or any other medium weight fabric with a little structure.

Step 1

Draw a basic block with darts.
Our method for drawing it on personal measurements and a deep explanation on raglan sleeves is included in our basic blocks course/module 2.

First, adjust length to ankles.

Then drop armholes by 8 to 10cm and widen from armpits by 5 to 8cm, then square down to hemline.

Step 2

Raise back neckline and back shoulder line by 2cm, then drop front shoulder line by matching 2cm (this is needed for balance in any loose style, as the garment tends to rotate backwards).

Step 3

Draw the new armhole line from new shoulder point to new armpit point on both back and front. The upper part of new armhole line almost matches original one, while the lower part is much flatter (less curved).

Cut through the new line.
