V neck blouse

4.5/5

Let's draft together the pattern of this romantic blouse.

It is perfect in a lightweight, drapey fabric as crepeon, georgette, voile, or lightweight cotton or viscose.

Grab a basic block with darts and a basic sleeve to start with.

Step 1

Get back and front and draw the new neckline (slightly wider on back, V shaped on front) and the peplum lines, horizontal on back and slanted upward on front:

  • the first one is few cm above the waist,
  • the hem line is 12-18cm below (but you can choose the measurement you prefer.

Get the sleeve, taper it at the elbow and draw the slash lines: some are to flare from the elbow downward, the others are to give volume to the cap.

Step 2

Trace a copy of front and back bodice and peplum.

Manipulate the darts:

  • on back bodice, erase it and discard the same amount from side seam and center back,
  • on front bodice, close the shoulder dart and open its volume at the waist one,
  • on both peplum pieces, erase the darts (their volume will be eased in the seam).
Step 3

Trace a new copy of front bodice filling the dart with paper and marking the gather at the underbust.

Draw some slash lines on front and back peplum.
