V neck draped dress

4.5/5

Let's draft together the pattern of this amazing evening dress.

It is also perfect as a bridal one, or in a shorter version as a cocktail dress.

You can sew it in any flowy fabric, this is silk crepe, but also silk satin in a medium weight would look great.

We recommend a full lining with a basic pattern (with darts instead of drape) that would hold the dress snug on your body.

Start from a basic block with zero wearing ease.

Step 1

Mirror the bodice block so you have the full front.

Draw the first slash line (the one marked in red) and close the waist dart that crosses it.

Step 2

Cut through this line, close the waist dart that crosses it, then spread 4-6cm for the pleat (you can adjust the measurement as you like the drape – the lighter the fabric, the more volume you can add).

Step 3

Trace a copy of the bodice with added volume.

Draw the matching line on the other side, cut through the line and get ready to close the dart.

Step 4

Add the same cm for the pleat on this slash line.
