Vintage bodice

4.5/5

Do you like vintage garments and patterns? We are passionate about them.

Today let’s have a look at how the pattern of this bodice is drafted.

Start from a basic block with darts and zero ease allowance.

Step 1

Calculate your underbust circumference and shape the waist darts at the underbust-we are reducing 0,75cm from each side of the dart.

Draw the heart shaped neckline and widen the shoulder darts by 1cm at it.

Draw the new waistline slightly shaping a V on its center.

Cut the piece.

Step 2

On your cut piece, draw the style lines curved from the sides on the waist to the underbust, then the lines for the dart manipulation on one side only.

Cut through the new lines and close the existing darts.

Step 3

This is the finished pattern: one side of the front has the underbust dart and the rounded cut, the other has two pleats at the bust (remember to mark them with notches and arrow).
